Quasimorph Factions Guide: Who to Help, Who to Fight
A Quasimorph factions guide to the Hexarchy corporations, minor factions worth backing, Tezctlan, and how faction standing shapes trading, loot, and difficulty.
Quasimorph's solar system is split between competing political blocs, and faction standing is a core survival mechanic, not flavor text: it determines who trades with you, which missions appear on the Magnum's mission board, and what gear the enemies you meet are carrying.
Why faction standing matters mechanically
Dropping below zero standing with a faction erases your barter access there until it recovers, and faction affiliation directly sets enemy equipment, armor resistances, and tech tier on the stations they control. Faction power also affects how many enemies you face — a high-power faction like Dilthey can throw 30-40 enemies per floor at you, versus roughly 10-15 for a weaker faction like SBN — and higher faction power raises the odds of elite, specialized enemy units showing up too.
The Hexarchy: the five dominant corporations
RealWare, Dilthey, Tianmìng, SBN, and AnCom together make up what's called the Hexarchy — described in testing as "evil and driven by conspiracies," and structurally dominant if left unchecked. RealWare is a strong weapons manufacturer with solid early guns and armor, but its mid-tier laser-sighted submachine guns ignore dodge and remain a real threat into the late game. Dilthey is widely called the most annoying faction to fight: early combat androids and drones with extra range and multi-projectile attacks, hard-to-hit robots, and shock weapons that bypass typical armor resistances, for comparatively weak rewards even at higher tiers. SBN is energy-weapon focused and becomes one of the strongest gear sources once ramped up, and is recommended as a priority to fight early alongside Dilthey before the two snowball. AnCom stays one of the weaker Hexarchy members until around tier 6-7, after which it becomes much stronger; its standout unlock is a top-tier sniper rifle that reloads multiple rounds at once instead of one at a time. Tianmìng rounds out the Hexarchy as a logistics and barter-focused faction.
Minor factions worth backing
If you do nothing, the Hexarchy takes over the galaxy — testing consistently frames this as bad even for players nominally fighting for a corporation, since minor factions get starved of the tech tiers needed to keep offering varied gear. Recommended factions to help include Civil Resistance, French Comté, Unchained Belt, Placid Bridge, Core World, Church of Revelation, and Grasshopper.
- Civil Resistance starts with weak guns but unlocks solid early armor and a load-reducing backpack, growing into strong laser-sighted rifles and a plasma pistol by tier 4.
- Church of Revelation is called a personal favorite in testing — early chips that can unlock the Tunnel Rats class, Quasimorphosis-reducing items, and strong tier-3 gear that synergizes with a Tunnel Rats build.
- Unchained Belt (pirates) gives gold and morphine early, a top-tier rifle at tier 5, and — most importantly — unlocks chips from other minor factions at tier 10, called one of the most impactful long-term investments in the game.
- French Comté is tanky and defensive with strong physical and fire resistance, plus a portable-cover item useful on Defense missions, though its weapons stay weak.
- Grasshopper ("space cowboys") has strong early weapons offset by some of the worst armor in the game.
- Core World / Planet Bridge is called one of the easiest factions to fight, with weak tier-1 rewards that improve into useful turrets, drones, and a strong all-around power armor set later.
- Sunlight Coven is one of the strongest early factions despite its church-like presentation, with top-tier weapons unlocking as early as tier 1-3, and is rated one of the hardest minor factions to fight even at low tech tier.
Faction elites can outgear their own tier
Any faction can field units one or two tech tiers higher than their nominal tier on elite enemies — but mission rewards stay capped at the faction's actual tech tier, so the extra danger doesn't come with extra reward.
Tezctlan: the demon wildcard faction
Tezctlan is a "demon" faction distinct from the Hexarchy and the minor factions — weak at first, but its entropy-damage shotguns and sniper rifles can one-shot even endgame clones, and it's also the source of Vak, a resource that cures radiation sickness once unlocked. It can appear inside other factions' missions with completely different gear from that faction's usual loadout. The recommended approach is to suppress rather than fully eliminate Tezctlan, since wiping them out lets the Hexarchy claim their territory instead. Their missions often lock the Quasimorphosis meter at zero, and a large share of the game's pact rites connect to their storyline.
Beginner faction strategy
Mars, Phobos, and Deimos carry a mixed low-tier faction presence with no Quasimorphosis, making them a safe place to learn examine mechanics, resistances, and barter systems before committing to outer-system storylines. Spread early goodwill across two factions before specializing, bank purchases before a reputation-costly mission, and match class-chip unlocks to whichever faction's traders actually sell them before spending standing elsewhere. Farming Defense contracts on horror-capable stations is also called out as a way to build stable reputation without escalating the Quasimorphosis meter.
Quasimorph factions FAQ
What is the Hexarchy? The five dominant corporations — RealWare, Dilthey, Tianmìng, SBN, and AnCom — that will control most of the galaxy if minor factions aren't actively supported against them.
Which faction should a new player avoid fighting early? Dilthey is consistently flagged as the most dangerous and least rewarding faction to fight early, due to hard-to-hit drones and shock damage that bypasses typical resistances.
Should I fully wipe out Tezctlan? No — suppressing them periodically is recommended over full elimination, since destroying them lets the Hexarchy take their territory instead.
Where's the safest place to learn faction mechanics? Mars, Phobos, and Deimos, which have low-tier factions and no Quasimorphosis pressure.
